I read this book for my Introduction to Archaeology course and is by a professor at the same college not the one for my course though It s a case study of how you get from evidence to conclusions in archaeology, with the case being a prehistoric mini village of probably a few tens of people that the author excavated in Arizona Specifically it belonged to the Sinagua culture, which existed in the early first millennium at the same time as the Anasazi further north The intention is carried through marvelously, with plenty of information about both the village and archaelogy I wish all disciplines with a historical perspective to them assigned a book like this at some point in their curriculum. Ç Life in the Pueblo: Understanding the Past Through Archaeology Ð First off, I loved this book It s a detailed, easy to read explination of the author s work with a team of archaeologists and graduate students on Lizzard Man Village The descriptions are easy to understand, as is the author s explination of the techniques used in southwestern United States archaeology.
